Renting Out Your Basement, Garage or Storage Room in Hamburg: How It Works

A basement room collecting dust. A garage with plenty of room next to the bike. A storage room that's been half-empty since your last move. Hamburg has a lot of unused space — and just as many people who, during a move, a renovation, or the gap between two apartments, suddenly need somewhere to put their things.

What you can rent out

On Stororama you can list any kind of private storage space, for example:

  • a basement room or cellar compartment
  • a garage or parking space
  • a room or storage space you're not currently using
  • attic space

You decide how much space to offer, at what price, and who you rent it to.

How renting out space works

  1. Create a listing: describe your space, add a few photos and set your price. Creating a listing is free.
  2. Get a request: interested renters contact you through the platform. You decide freely whether and to whom you rent — without needing to draw up your own rental contract.
  3. Get paid: payment is handled through the platform. Stororama keeps a 15% service fee from the rental payment; the rest goes to you.

What about safety?

To be upfront: Stororama is a matching platform. There is currently no deposit or insurance product through the platform — hosts and renters arrange that directly if needed, for example through their own liability or home contents insurance. You decide who you trust with your space, and you can review every request before accepting it.

Why Hamburg, why now

Hamburg is a city with a lot of turnover — people moving, starting their studies, renovating. Anyone looking for a place to store moving boxes, bikes, furniture or seasonal gear can find listings on Stororama right in their neighbourhood, instead of driving out to an anonymous storage facility on the edge of town.

Got space sitting unused? Create your free listing now and find out who nearby is looking for exactly that.
